Cheltenham Town see out 0-0 draw against top of the table Wigan Athletic

Cheltenham held visitors Wigan to a goalless draw as Michael Duff’s side winless run continued albeit for a stellar display against the league leaders.

Gwion Edwards had the Tics’ best chance of the first half in the 24th minute after a beautiful turn on the edge of the area was followed by a shot at goal which flashed wide to the left of Evans' post.

Cheltenham striker Alfie May had a massive chance after a defensive header from Kelland Watts fell the way of the striker who fired wide when 1-on-1 with Ben Amos.

Duff will be waiting on a fitness update after Southampton winter loanee Dan Nlundulu went off holding his hamstring with 10 minutes of the first half to play.

The second half had more of the same with big chances for both sides the first of which fell to Will Keane in the 52nd minute who flashed wide after a brilliant chested knock on from Josh Magennis.

Cheltenham’s best chance fell to Matty Blair in the 73rd minute after a beautiful cross field switch from Liam Sercombe was met by Blair, before Amos saved brilliantly from point blank range.

The Robins had to finish the last couple minutes with 10 men after new signing Ben Williams picked up a second yellow after a late challenge on Gavin Massey.
